Lizz Russell at Westgate

The Westgate Hotel hosted a very fashionable fundraiser May 27th, 2011 featuring designers Lizz Russell (purses, gowns, clothing, belts and jewelry) and Alakazia (hats).

All for a great cause too. The fashion show was a benefit for GBS/CIDP.

For your 411, Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) also called acute inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy and Landry's ascending paralysis, is an inflammatory disorder of the peripheral nerves those outside the brain and spinal cord. CIDP (chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy) is a rare disorder of the peripheral nerves characterized by gradually increasing weakness of the legs and, to a lesser extent, the arms.

Among the guests were On Demand Workout Founder Bonnie Saldivar-Jones, Rocio Flynn (she's Chairing the upcoming Promises 2 Kids benefit with her husband Michael Flynn), the very tops Eclat Catering food purveyor Athanasia Ampelas, and Margo Schwab.

More there were Liaison for the San Diego chapter of the GBS/CIDP Foundation Julie Jukich, Board of Director's member Marilyn, Vivian Williams, Alishia Sisk from Dallas Texas, Mary Lange Simone Benham, Judith Perry, Gwen Allen Mother of NFL hall of famer Marcus Allen and Lizz Russell's 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. Doris Thomas even came.

Lizz Russell's designs are one of a kind creations. For this show perfect the race track and gown fashions predominated. Dolman sleeves, sequined trousers, tops with cutout backs and one particularly very daring and prettily draped gown.

Lizz's unique purses feature her signature rose motifs. Jewelry all handcrafted from the necklaces, to the earrings, to the handcrafted cuff bracelets. Elegant but with statement.

Lizz's designs were accompanied by the Hollywood milliner Alakazia. His hats/ works of art are big time in the news on the head of Lady Gaga.

All in all a fun day of tea, fashion, shopping to benefit GBS/CIDP, and well perhaps a bit of bubbly for some.

Lizz Russell's mission with the foundation is "to inform as many people as I can about this disease and early diagnosis is key. By the way, Lizz is a 27 year survivor of GBS and head of the local chapter.

Be advised strictly no downloading, publishing, broadcasting, printing, or copying of photos or content. Please email purchase requests of photos you are in.

Enjoy the Photos!
