The San Diego Opera Gala

The Year started off strong with the San Diego Opera Gala on January 30th, 2010. The very romantic and very French La Bohème was the starring performance. Valerie Cooper and her husband Harry Cooper were the Title Sponsors of the Gala. Seacrest Masquerade Ball

February 6th, 2010 The Cirque du Seacrest Masquerade Ball celebrated local heroes for its 32nd annual gala.The heroes were not only the supporters of Seacrest Village Retirement Communities, but the evening also featured the supportive safety members of the community, including the Encinitas Fire Department and the Poway Fire Department. A couple of oohs and aahs over firemen and women extended to the incredible 'cirque' entertainment including contortionists.

Among the guests were Honorary Chairs Esther and Bud Fisher, Lee (in Jordan) and Frank Goldberg, Mary and Jon Epsten, Teddie Pincus, Francy Starr, Elaine and Jeffrey Lipinsky, Melissa and Michael Bartell, Susan and Richard Ulevitch, Bobbi and Sol Nagorner, Sheila Potiker, and Barbara Bloom. New Children's Museum Fashion Show Benefit

February 24th, 2010 the New Children's Museum held its annual Nordstrom's fashion benefit to raise funds for more visual arts and unstructured play for children. As their website address says, think, play and create!

Among the fashionable there front row and center were Joan Jacobs, Sheryl White in Oscar de la Renta, Valerie Cooper in Victoria Beckham, Iris Strauss, Colette Carson Royston, and Natalie and Alex Scoma.

Fun moments of the night were comments by Iris Strauss and Joan Jacobs regarding the sky high heels parading by on the models.....who would wear them.... 'guilty as charged!'

'Heart of San Diego' Cardiovascular Gala

The 13th Annual UCSD “Heart of San Diego” Cardiovascular Gala was held February 27th, 2010 raising significant funds for the comprehensive Sulpizio Family Cardiovascular Center (CVC) set to open April 2011.

Among the guests were Honorees Judy and Jack White, Honorary Event Chairs Jeanne Jones and Don Breitenberg, and Evelyn and Ernest Rady, and Event Chairs Salah Hassanein and Zandra Rhodes.

A news update, Dr. Stuart Jamieson will be instrumental in re-starting the heart transplant program, a great service in addition to the established lung transplant program.

* Margo Schwab, MBA, more formally known as Margaret E. Schwab, has produced, written, interviewed and photographed for various media organizations since 1989. Schwab attended Holton Arms School, La Jolla Country Day School and La Jolla High School. Schwab has a B.A. from Scripps College, spent a business internship with S.A.I.C., Science Applications International Corporation, and earned a Masters of Business degree, M.B.A., from the University of San Diego by way of Claremont Graduate School . Schwab additionally took college courses from Harvard University, and Syracuse University. Schwab volunteers for numerous charity organizations. She also continues to support animal organizations and the prevention of people and animal abuse. Schwab is the editor and co-owner of The Social Diary.
