Jewel Ball 2010 All 'Heart & Soul'

for San Diego Causes

(followed by The Buzz!!)

Jewel Ball 2010 went off without a hitch on August 7th at the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club.. Perfect weather, check, perfect fun, check, and a lot of perfectly glamorous sorts all supporting some very important San Diego causes this year.

The ten major beneficiaries are: The Old Globe Theatre, the UCSD Division of Biological Sciences, Friends of Balboa Park, Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA, Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, NTC Foundation, Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego Scripps Health Foundation, SPORTS for Exceptional Athletes, and The Emilio Nares Foundation.

The evening started with the beautiful voices of Voices for Praze at check-in, and followed poolside with cocktails and the best appetizer buffets, including Mosaic Catering and those fabulous Kobe Beef mini-burgers. The soulful tunes of Rebecca Jade and her trio hit all the right notes during the reception.

Amidst the guests were quite a few standouts. Chair Lise Wilson was very elegant in a strapless, subdued floral print by Oscar de la Renta, Lise was joined by Co-Chairs Lisa Albanez and Kristi Pieper, Las Patronas President (Las Patronas is the group of women who organize the Jewel Ball) Tracy Lyon wore a vibrant red silk gown by Pamela Roland, Iris Strauss looked superlative in a vibrant Naeem Khan, Deni Jacobs raised the couture level with her Baracci gown, Dianne Bashor wore one of her favorite couture designers, a Fe Zandi gown, Lynda Kerr wore strapless J. Mendel, Valerie Cooper upped the 'wow' factor in a slim red gown by Jenny Packham of London, and Sheryl White shimmered in a white Naeem Khan gown.

More there catching deserved attention were Karen Cohn in a pretty deep blue gown by Roland Mouret, Colette Royston wore a beautiful gown by Oscar de la Renta, Guylyn Cummins in feathery Sue Wong, Lisa Casey in strapless Kevan Hall, Wendy Segall wore a gown by Zara, Rocio Flynn looked terrific in a one shouldered gown, Constance Hughes wore a very sexy number from Gucci, Terri Kelly wore a well detailed lace gown by Carolina Herrera, Maree Mossmer wore a one shouldered gown by Oscar de la Renta, Emma Zuckerman chose a gown by relatively newcomer designer Rafael Cennamo and Jennifer Greenfield was a stunner in a very form fitting deep purple, strapless gown.

Jennifer was also the Jewel Ball Chair last year.

The ball was decorated simply by Kimberly Lee with white roses of every size, white lilies and dining tables of clear plastic with subdued underlighting.

The lighting came in handy at Lee Clark and Jerry Pikolysky's table.... better to see how the bubble count of Veuve Clicquot was going!

Guests dined on a La Jolla Hyatt catered menu including a shrimp étouffé crusted beef fillet. Dancing was two fold during dinner. First by The Soultones, and they were followed by the Fabulous Thunderbirds.

And fabulous was the adjective of the night!
